Natural Skin Care Product Labels

Public awareness of carcinogenic chemicals has spurred the growth of many industries, including natural and organic skin care. Under California’s Proposition 65, manufacturers cannot sell products containing toxic substances without warning the consumer of their dangers. Despite the law, several companies have failed to provide these warnings and some are being prosecuted. The research chemists at Skin MD Natural advise consumers to investigate the ingredients in skin care products before purchase.
The offending substance in one current case, although it is one of many, is 1,4-Dioxane — designated as carcinogenic by the EPA and added to the list of harmful substances in January 1988.
The Attorney General of California filed a lawsuit against one company in response to a study conducted by the Organic Consumers Association (OCA), said the OCA. The OCA’s 1,4-dioxane study highlighted the issue of fake ‘natural’ and ‘organic’ brands that utilize petrochemicals in their formulas and now we are seeing labeling enforcement on a scale we have never seen before, OCA national director Ronnie Cummins told reporters.
One way for consumers to protect their skin from harsh chemicals in products and the environment is with a shielding lotion. A breakthrough in skin care technology from Skin MD Natural, shielding lotion was originally formulated for those working with harsh chemicals in industrial settings. The lotion bonds with the outer layer of the skin to form a new protective layer that helps prevent chemical damage and absorption. It is now recommended by thousands of doctors to treat dry skin, eczema and other skin conditions believed to be caused by allergies and reactions to toxins and chemicals.
“Every day our skin is exposed to numerous chemicals and irritants — you don’t have to be working with chemicals or cleaning fluids,” said Dr. Lisa Benest, a board certified dermatologist practicing in Burbank, California. “Skin care and skin treatment is important in today’s polluted environment. Shielding lotion provides an invisible barrier to help protect us from all these irritants, which can lead to dry skin, eczema and other skin problems.”
The Attorney General’s current suit may well put an end to unethical labeling of skin care products but, in the meantime, consumers should fully investigate the ingredients of all skin care treatment products before their purchase and, to be safe, use a protective shielding lotion.

Comments for Natural Skin Care Product Labels
Great article! I’m a strong believer of natural skin care products. However, nowdays, the word “natural” doesn’t mean much. Simply because everyone can claim to have a “natural’ product if it contains atleast 70 percent of natural ingredients. But that’s not enough for me. That’s why I use Dari Natural’s skin care products. Their Tropical Butter and Facial Soothing Butter is 100% natural and they use organic herbal extracts in all of their facial products.
