Natural Soap and Skin Care Products a Growing Beauty Trend

The beauty industry world wide is seeing a large and growing demand for skin care and bath products made with all natural, and in some cases organic ingredients. The trend is growing quickly and encompasses all categories of consumer and professional beauty products. As knowledge and education among consumers increases about what makes a skin care product “natural” or “organic”, many retailers are finding their clients demanding more of these products instead of the traditional cosmetics.
One retailer that has received a growing chorus of calls for more variety of natural skin care and beauty products is Chatsworth based Cleopatra’s Choice. Responding to client demands the company recently introduced a new line of handmade and natural soap and a makeup line which doesn’t contain “parabens” and other ingredients considered harmful or “unnatural” by the natural conscious customer base. The online vendor has added about ten different soaps made only with all natural ingredients with names such as “Green Tea with Grapeseed Oil” and “Creamy Cucumber Delight”. The soap is hand made by a company called Avvya which specializes in all natural and organic soaps.
Bath and body products which use only natural or organic ingredients are hard to find primarily because it is difficult to preserve them and give them a shelf life longer than a few weeks. Many chemicals which have recently been found to be harmful to the skin are actually preservatives which extend the skin care product’s shelf life for a period of over a year. Such is the case with the infamous parabens ingredient which has gained the most notoriety as potentially being a cancer causing agent and is found in many over the counter cosmetics.
“We hear it day in and day out from our customers,” says Sharon Allen, founder of Cleopatra’s Choice, “the demand for natural and organic skin care and beauty products is just something that we can’t ignore. Our customers are demanding a wider selection of all natural products and we have to listen to what they want.”
The company is named so because they started out by carrying primarily Dead Sea products but have now expanded into other skin care and beauty categories. By expanding into natural soap and mineral makeup powders and foundation the company hopes to give their more educated customers a wide selection and more choices of the products they are interested in.
The cosmetics introduced by the company are also taking on a more natural approach. Compared to traditional cosmetics and makeup - the newly popularized mineral makeup is what Cleopatra’s Choice chooses to offer. This make up is composed primarily of loose minerals and powder and according to some research is actually beneficial for the skin. The minerals which compose these cosmetics are actually present in skin and help balance out skin pH and moisture levels, therefore putting on cosmetics made of minerals can help deliver needed nutrients into the skin.

Comments for Natural Soap and Skin Care Products a Growing Beauty Trend
In this article, I came to know lots and lots of information about skin care and some new information about hand made soap. Its very good that the soaps are made up of natural ingredients. The names such as Green Tea with Grapeseed Oil and Creamy Cucumber Delight are very nice.
I use a face cream that has powerful antioxidants from real blue berries. . .its from this organic and chemical free company called Made from Earth. Its the Three Berry Serum. . .It has actual berries in it which are mixed with the lotion and applied to your face. Plus, I have sensitive skin and dont put any chemicals in my body, and this one of the few face creams I have found that is 100% chemical free . .
Seriously - toxic synthetic chemicals in your lotions are not necessary. Human skin is porous which means that substances we put on our skin are absorbed directly into our bloodstream. This means these chemicals may end up in your liver or other organs.
Thank you for your information….it really is amazing that the larger percentage of people are so totally uninforme on the values of natural skin products.
Interesting article - though I think it’s not that surprising that more consumers are opting for more ‘natural’ skincare products given that we are now starting to demand more organic food products, adopting more green tendencies etc. Soon one will probably be able to buy an organic laptop with wheatgrass sprouting ot the touchpad!
What I think would be interesting to find out though is if the adoption of these trends varies across different socio-economic sectors or even across ethnic backgrounds. Is one more inclined to use natural skin care products if one is say of latin descent over someone of an asian background? Or african descent over european?
Just a thought.
