AMBI Skincare Annual Scholarship Winners
The AMBI(R) Skincare brand of Johnson & Johnson Consumer Companies, Inc. proudly announces the five winners of the second annual Scholarship in Science & Medicine, a scholarship program designed to recognize, reward and support African American and Hispanic women. This Scholarship was inspired by its first recipient, Karen Morris-Priester. As the first grandmother to graduate Yale Medical School, the 44-year old Pennsylvania native’s story exemplified desire, drive and commitment to making a difference in her community as a physician. Her life has been one of personal sacrifice to reach this goal, and she was honored for her outstanding achievements by AMBI(R) on “The Oprah Winfrey Show.”
Similar to Karen Morris-Priester, this year’s winners set a positive example for African American and Hispanic women. The Scholarship winners each have a unique story that has motivated them to pursue a career in science and medicine. Chosen from more than 3,000 entries, the following women have been awarded $10,000 towards tuition for any science or medicine program:
– Natalia Cortez of San Leandro, California - Touro University
– Charlene James of Cary, North Carolina - Indiana University at
Bloomington
– Kellie Middleton of Norcross, Georgia - University of Pittsburg School
of Medicine
– Stephanie Sanchez of Tucson, Arizona - University of Arizona
– Ebonee Tabb of Lawrenceville, Georgia - Georgia Perimeter College
“We’re honored to support these extraordinary individuals and encourage more women to follow their dreams in the fields of science and medicine,” says Denna Singleton, Product Director of AMBI(R) Skincare.
