HandClens Hand Sanitizer Kills H1N1 Flu Virus
Woodward Labs, a leading antimicrobial skin care company, announced today that an independent testing laboratory has confirmed the efficacy of HandClens, an alcohol-free hand sanitizer, against H1N1 flu virus. The test results show HandClens is 99.99% effective against H1N1 virus in 15 seconds. The company will submit these results to the FDA as an addendum to its citizen’s petition from 2003 that details how the company’s patented formula effectively kills 99.99 percent of disease-causing germs.
This is timely as The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recently recognized that “hand sanitizers that do not contain alcohol may be useful for killing flu germs on hands.” With over a decade of research behind Woodward Lab’s alcohol-free formula, HandClens is an important tool in the battle to stay healthy during flu season.
The testing was conducted by a Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) compliant, independent third party laboratory following American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) International protocol.
“We want the public to recognize HandClens as an effective way to prevent the spread of H1N1 Flu and other germs,” says Marwan Zreik, president of Woodward Labs. “With the H1N1 pandemic expected to continue this fall and a minimal amount of inoculations available, the public needs another level of defense against the spread of micro-organisms and our testing proves that HandClens will help kill the germs that cause illness.”
According to Zreik, “Experts say to wash hands often, but for those times when access to soap and water are limited, the public needs another option. The alcohol-free component of HandClens is especially important in facilities where the flammability and toxicity of alcohol-based sanitizers is a concern.”
Alcohol-free hand sanitizers are safer for children because they are non-toxic, non-flammable and eliminate the risk of alcohol ingestion, as has happened in the recent-past with alcohol-based sanitizers. In addition, alcohol-free products are gentler on the skin and don’t cause drying or cracking.
According to scientific reports submitted to the FDA, also published in both the Journal of School Nursing and Family Medicine Journal, schools that instituted HandClens as part of an overall classroom hand-hygiene program showed as much as a 42 percent reduction in illness-absenteeism in students ages four-to-12 years old.
Woodward Labs aims to help prevent the spread of Swine Flu by continuing to offer special programs to schools, institutions and consumers. This includes online price discounts, free wall dispensers and a free “Simple as ABC, ‘Always Be Clean,’” hand hygiene instruction manual, a comprehensive education program designed by Woodward to help parents and teachers promote the importance of proper hand hygiene to kids and adolescents grades K-8 in a fun and engaging way.
HandClens is available in a variety of sizes including 0.5 oz, 1.7 oz, 8.0 oz and institutional 1.0 liter and 1.8 liter sizes. HandClens has a wonderful green apple scent and is available directly through Woodward Labs and its distributors. For more information, please visit www.woodwardlabs.com.

Some good information in this article. Interesting stuff about “Simple as ABC, ‘Always Be Clean,’” hand hygiene instruction manual.
There is an interactive tutorial which could accompany this really well as it’s fun and educational.
Sorry forgot about the online tutorial, you can find it here under the hygiene section - http://bit.ly/MMVMr
This is fantastic! I have been using it for years, I purchase my HandClens for my family at Bioshieldtech.com
I remember last year, when H1N1 was still epidemic malls here would require each person to sanitize before entering.
So all the press about overuse of hand sanitizer causing humans to be immune to the effectiveness of sanitizer is no longer true?
