RenovaIn 2008, the global anti-aging skincare market approached $15 billion(1), with 32 percent of U.S. facial skincare product launches boasting anti-aging claims(2) many over-the-counter products are claiming to achieve comparable benefits as prescription anti-aging treatments. The interest in anti-aging products continues to grow, but FDA-approved prescription products with rigorous efficacy and safety standards are still the preferred option when it comes to first-line therapy.

While there is a seemingly endless array of cosmetic products to choose from when it comes to anti-aging products, there is a shortage of products that deliver consistent, optimal results. In these economic times, patients should consult an expert to ensure that they get the best results for their money.

“It is important for consumers to consult an expert before beginning an anti-aging regimen. A dermatologist can provide invaluable insights on what will be most effective for your individual skin type,” says Dr. David Bank, Founder and Director of The Center for Dermatology, Cosmetic & Laser Surgery in Mount Kisco, New York. “I always tell my patients to accept no
substitutions: FDA approval means a product is safe and effective. And, with proper and consistent use, a prescription product provides real, long-lasting and impressive results.”

Although many cosmetic products promise fast results, the results can be short-lived and superficial. Patients who use RENOVA (tretinoin cream) 0.02%, the #1 prescribed, FDA-approved topical treatment clinically proven to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, have seen consistent improvement with ongoing use. In a clinical trial, 85 percent of patients showed continuous
improvement over 52 weeks of treatment.

While thousands of cosmetic topical anti-aging skincare products hit shelves every year, none are subjected to the rigorous scientific testing required to gain FDA approval. As a result, none have proven to be more effective than RENOVA in reducing fine facial wrinkles and giving skin a younger, more radiant appearance.

“I’ve been prescribing RENOVA for 12 years,” says Dr. Bank, “RENOVA is a retinoid that contains tretinoin, the gold standard of retinoid therapy for 30 years. I consider RENOVA an essential part of a long-term skincare strategy and recommend it in conjunction with other anti-aging procedures including injectables, lasers and microdermabrasion.”

RENOVA 0.02% is indicated as an adjunctive agent for use in the mitigation (palliation) of fine facial wrinkles in patients who use comprehensive skin care and sunlight avoidance programs. RENOVA 0.02% does not eliminate wrinkles, repair sun-damaged skin, reverse photoaging, or restore more youthful or younger skin. The safety and efficacy of using RENOVA 0.02% daily, for greater than 12 months, have not been established. RENOVA 0.02% is proven effective on lightly pigmented skin, Fitzpatrick skin types I, II and III. Do not use RENOVA 0.02% if the patient is taking drugs known to be photosensitizers, pregnant, attempting pregnancy, or nursing. RENOVA 0.02% is a dermal irritant. Almost all patients experience skin reactions, including dryness, peeling, burning/stinging, erythema, and itching. In some patients, this may be severe.

My dermatologist orescribed Renova for medical reasons rather than cosmetic, but my insurance won’t pay for it. Renova is too expensive! I need coupons. Thank you.
