Lauren Conrad is Launching a Beauty Product Line
Lauren Conrad, who studied Merchandise Product Development at FIDM, has found success on television, in fashion, and now in the beauty world. Her beauty blog, The Beauty Department - a joint venture with her longtime hairstylist, Kristin Ess, and her makeup artist, Amy Nadine - is going to expand to a product line.
“I am currently researching all of my options, but should begin the process of executing an actual line very soon - stay tuned!” Conrad recently wrote on Forbes.com. The Beauty Department, which offers beauty tutorials and insider tips on hair, makeup, skin, and nails, was designed by FIDM Alumna Bri Emery.
Conrad’s beauty brand is not the first entrepreneurial venture for the former FIDM Student, who rose to fame on MTV’s Laguna Beach and The Hills reality shows. In 2007, she launched The Lauren Conrad Collection, a clothing line, and in 2009, LC Lauren Conrad, a line sold exclusively at Kohl’s. She is known for feminine designs with a California vibe.
Her first novel, L.A. Candy, debuted at number one on the New York Times Best Seller List and her second book, Sweet Little Lies, was also a bestseller. She has also written Lauren Conrad Style, a style guide for young women. But for now she’s passionate about beauty.
“Growing up, I never really learned how to do my hair and makeup correctly and the results weren’t always great,” she has said. “Our goal with The Beauty Department is to provide girls and young women with basic how-to of simplified versions of popular trends and styles that they can create themselves.”
