Dolphin Organics Announces New Skin Deep Rating

Dolphin Organics, a new line of organic and all-natural baby bath products, announced today that its baby lotion received a zero rating on the Skin Deep database (http://www.cosmeticdatabase.com), a guide to cosmetics and personal skin care products by the Environmental Working Group (EWG). All other Dolphin Organics products, including baby shampoo, conditioner and bubble bath, received a rating of one.
The Skin Deep database reviews cosmetic products to rate their safety for use. Products reviewed are issued a hazard rating on a scale from zero to ten, with zero being the lowest possible toxicity. The EWG is a non-biased organization that works in conjunction with the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics to bring awareness to consumers about chemicals and toxins which can be found in cosmetics and personal care products.
This is very exciting news for our company, said Ayo Hart, Founder, Managing Partner, Dolphin Organics. We are proud of the fact that our products are certified to NSF/ANSI 305 standards by QAI. This stellar EWG rating gives us ongoing validation that our products use quality natural ingredients, and is a simple way for consumers to understand the values of our company.
Since its launch in June 2011, Dolphin Organics has pioneered a new standard for truth in labeling by creating an innovative ingredients list that makes it easy to see that the products are truly all-natural. Dolphin Organics was the first to use such transparency on its rear panels. The company takes the guesswork out of natural ingredients by offering an innovative label that reflects a clean, three-column design to help consumers easily identify each ingredient as being organic, natural or artificial. The last column is empty.
There are so many companies jumping on the green and natural bandwagon, however, we like to pride ourselves in creating a line of products that not only have 100 percent natural ingredients, but also offer truth in labeling, Hart said.
Hart, along with her husband, Nigel, came up with the concept for Dolphin Organics after Nigel lost his father to cancer in 2010. The couple was shocked since his father was a lifelong farmer who ate only what he grew. Their question was why? It made us think very critically about our lifestyle and what we could do to be even healthier (the couple had already made the switch to organic food back in 1998), she said. We quickly realized that while everything we were putting in our bodies was safe and natural, the same could not be said for what we were putting on our bodies.
The couple decided they wanted to use only natural and organic products on their young twin girls. After much research, they said they found that most big brands contain artificial ingredients, and that many products whose labels claim to be natural and organic also contain artificial and potentially harmful ingredients. The couple decided that the best way to get the products they wanted was to make their own. After spending countless hours talking to moms and potential customers about the kinds of products they were looking for, the result was Dolphin Organics.
Headquartered in Pound Ridge, NY, Dolphin Organics recently received PETA Certification and is now part of PETAs cruelty-free program. PETA, with more than 2 million members and supporters, is the largest animal rights organization in the world.
