Khroma Beauty By Kourtney - Kim and Khloe Kardashian

Boldface Licensing + Branding (”Boldface”), a celebrity beauty license company, announced the launch of its initial license Khroma Beauty by Kourtney, Kim and Khloe Kardashian, noted beauty inspirations. The license covers all Color Cosmetics, a category that will resonate strongly with multi-ethnic women of all ages who aspire to the Kardashian style of beauty. The Cosmetics License / Brand has the potential for great longevity in the marketplace due to strong retailer support, consumer loyalty, and the ability to continually promote targeted trend-driven newness to the consumer seasonally.
Boldface was founded by Nicole Ostoya and Robin Coe-Hutshing, beauty industry veterans focused on top tier entertainment and designer opportunities exploring white space in the market. Their first brand, Khroma Beauty, created by Kourtney, Kim and Khloe, offers luxury products at affordable pricing with how-to insider and behind the scenes tips provided by the Kardashians and their make-up artists via Twitter and YouTube. Retailer commitments have been quite robust for the brand, which offers the unique opportunity for the iconic beauties to connect with their enormous audience of followers. The focus of Khroma Beauty is giving customers the tools to attain flawless looks at home with high quality formulas at affordable prices.
Nicole and Robin bring award-winning expertise in fragrance, color and treatment product development in all channels of distribution from prestige to mass as well as access to celebrities of all levels. With years of successful enterprises in the beauty arena, both in retail and product development, BOLDFACE expects to benefit from the strong operational strength that they will provide. The pair co-founded the design and development firm Gold Grenade in 2010, which focuses on product development and design that has launched two new brands, THE NEW BLACK and Kissing Elixirs. The brands are sold in Sephora, Nordstrom, Whole Foods, Henri Bendel, Beauty.com, Mecca Cosmetica AU, Beautyhabit, Shoppers Drug, Murale, and other stores worldwide.
As CEO of BOLDFACE, Nicole brings a wealth of experience including 18 years with Nordstrom, where among other roles, she had over 400 employees under her supervision and at times managed a volume of over 100 million dollars. During her tenure at Nordstrom, she rose through the ranks to the west coast merchandise manager for the fragrance category, operating it as a profitable business for Nordstrom. Nicole was then recruited by LVMH to open new channels of distribution for one of their premier brands, Benefit Cosmetics. There she oversaw the company’s significant Sephora business, launched on QVC as well as strategized operational structure to the Benefit Beauty Boutiques and opened them in other cities. Nicole’s extensive background allows her to properly position BOLDFACE as a full service licensing, branding and product development company with core competence in fragrance, beauty, cosmetics and skincare for multiple channel distribution.
Robin Coe-Hutshing, founder and former owner of trendsetting STUDIO at Fred Segal, has proven skills for innovation, trend and product success, having consulted with and advised hundreds of nascent brands, including Victoria’s Secret, Stila, Origins, Bath and Body Works, Estee Lauder and others. Robin has developed a number of successful brands including Memoire Liquide, BURN Candles, Nudite Intense, Soft Corp, and others. Robin’s work in the beauty industry is recognized and respected having been awarded the prestigious CEW Achiever Award for excellence in her field and the Beauty Inc. Award for fragrance development and launch.
BOLDFACE brands will carry Robin and Nicole’s creative imprimatur as they come to life under their stewardship, yet most importantly the brands will bear the mark of the personalities they represent. Additional licenses under the BOLDFACE banner are under discussion and are expected to follow on a selective basis as opportunities are assessed. BOLDFACE intends to expand its licensing to represent a series of relevant celebrities and designers in the categories of beauty, fragrance, cosmetics and home fragrance in multiple channels of distribution. Boldface’s goal is to keep its licensee’s names in boldface print.
